Sen. Rand Paul Tries to Sneak “Personhood” Amendment into Flood Bill

Anti-choice Sen. Rand “Son of Ron” Paul (R-Ky.) tried to pull a fast one on the American people last night.

He filed a “personhood” amendment to a bill reauthorizing the National Flood Insurance Program.

“Personhood” measures would outlaw abortion under almost all circumstances. They could also lead to bans on many forms of birth control, stem-cell research, and in-vitro fertilization.

These measures have been a real tough sell with voters. Last November, voters in Mississippi overwhelmingly rejected a “personhood” measure.

For someone who’s supposedly a libertarian, Sen. Paul sure does seem intent on prying into women’s medicine cabinets.

Anti-choice politicians can’t take a vote on anything without trying to turn it into an attack on women’s freedom and privacy. It’s deeply cynical to hold Americans’ flood insurance hostage to an extreme anti-choice agenda, but Sen. Paul doesn’t seem to care.
