The public is invited to a rally Saturday to protest what the sponsors see as a war on women’s rights.
U.S. Rep. John Yarmuth and and state Rep. Mary Lou Marzian, both Democrats, are scheduled to speak at the rally from 2 to 6 p.m. at Fresh Start Growers Supply, 1007 E. Jefferson St.
In a news release, the sponsors, Unite Women Kentucky, said they were inviting the public “to rally in concert with groups across the country, to celebrate local and state government officials who stand in opposition to the current social agenda aimed at reducing women’s rights, and to honor national and local organizations fighting for respect and equality for all.”
Unite Women Kentucky is an official state branch of Unite Against the
War on Women, which has been endorsed by more than a dozen women’s rights, social justice and other organizations, the news release said.
Unite Against the War on Women contended that “war is being waged on women, their bodies, their private interests, and their right to self-determination. This process is largely occurring without the very women affected by these actions.”
